Overview:

Because of the comparatively low cost of buying and maintaining extinguishers, many businesses don’t pay much attention to the requirements of fire extinguisher maintenance and service. And many extinguisher service companies take advantage of this lack of attention. Some companies say that you have to replace extinguishers every 12 years, or even every 6 years. That is not true at all. They say this because they often have arrangements with the manufacturers of extinguishers and it is more profitable for them to sell new extinguishers than having to service existing extinguishers.

While it is true that each extinguisher must have a service every 6 years and every 12 years, they can be serviced instead of replaced. If you listen to some companies advice, your business will end up paying a lot more than is necessary…sometimes as much as twice!

    • MRI water mist and carbon dioxide extinguishers are specifically designed for the unique requirements of Magnetic Resonance Imaging machines.
    • Water extinguishers are great for Class A hazards such as wood, paper and trash and where the other classes of fire hazards are minimal.
    • Water mist extinguishers are recommended for pump rooms and other areas where electrical hazards disallow the use of water extinguishers.
    • Wheeled Carbon Dioxide and Dry Chemical Extinguishers are for use in airports, chemical and other heavy industrial applications.
